IMPORTANT! This is a new process for odometer entry. Please familiarize yourself with the following:

SFM is now utilizing the odometer readings reported from the Geotab telematics device for all vehicles that have a device installed. Users will no longer be able to enter or edit odometer readings for any vehicle that has a telematics device. If an entry is necessary or an adjustment to the uploaded odometer is needed, the information must be entered into the Odometer Upload Master Review sheet and SFM will update readings in CARS, as needed. Links to your agencies' filtered view can be found in our Geotab Odometer Offsets - Monthly Agency Entry article.

SFM is also capturing and recording electric miles driven. The electric miles are calculated with the Geotab telematics system. For EV (full battery electric vehicles), all miles driven are electric miles. For PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles), the electric miles are calculated by the Geotab device. These electric miles are uploaded into CARS via the Geotab odometer upload process each month.

Key Points:

  1. Agencies will no longer be able to enter or adjust any odometer entry in CARS for a vehicle that has a telematics device; those without active devices will still need a manual odometer entry in CARS.
    • These are in CARS with a telematics serial number listed
  2. The new process is outlined in the webinar that was held on 9/12/23, New Odometer Upload, Review, and Offset Process, the slides with notes can be downloaded to follow along.
  3. Modifications to an odometer reading for these vehicles should be submitted following the Odometer Offset Process (The Offset sheet is updated after the odometers have been uploaded in CARS).
  4. Questions regarding odometer readings for these vehicles should be directed to the FAST Team, dpa_sfmtraining_support@state.co.us
  5. Questions regarding typical billing related items should still be relayed to the Billing Team,dpa_sfmbilling@state.co.us.
  6. SFM is actively working to include the electric mileage in related reports in CARS. This statement will be updated once complete.

You may remember a similar webinar that only applied to PHEV/EVs. That webinar is found below and has been superseded by the webinar listed above.
