The cost of car washes for State Fleet vehicles are considered part of the maintenace of the vehicle.  Therefore, the cost will impact your rate for the following year.  Agency Fleet Managers are responsible for reviewing the number of car wash events that occur for each vehicle in the agency's fleet on a routine basis.  This will help the Fleet Manager to identify when the number of car wash events is acceptable as well as to ensure that maintenance fees related to car washes remain reasonable. 


To minimize the impact of car washes to the agency's rate, State Fleet Management recommends the following:

  • The standard is to limit car washes to 2 times per month per vehicle, or a total of $30.00.
  • Vehicles requiring heavy use may require 4 car washes per month per vehicle, or a total of $60.00.
  • Purchasing a monthly car wash pass is an option (see information below).  If you decide to purchase a monthly pass, please be sure that the vehicle(s) are fully utilizing the service to justify the monthly fee.
