PLEASE NOTE: All Additional Vehicle Requests require approval from the Governor’s Office of Payroll and Budget and the DPA Budgetary Authority.


This article outlines the process for submitting an Additional Vehicle Request. Before proceeding, please review the following to determine if this is the correct path for your needs:


If your current vehicle is at the end of its life or has been turned in, and this new vehicle will be taking its place, then it is considered a replacement vehicle. In this case, the additional vehicle form is not required. Please contact the New Vehicle Team to initiate your vehicle order.


Is your new vehicle an "additional" vehicle? Consider the following:

  • Have you added a new program or department to your agency?
  • Has there been an expansion resulting in a new need for an additional vehicle?
  • Is there a specific requirement for an extra vehicle that isn't a replacement?
  • Do you have documentation (e.g., House, Senate, Long Bill, Decision Item, or an awarded grant) mandating a new program or vehicle that necessitates an additional vehicle?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, please continue with the Additional Vehicle Request process. If it's still not clear whether the Additional Vehicle Request is needed, please contact dpa_newvehicle@state.co.us.


Effective May 19, 2025, the process for submitting the AVR request has changed from submitting the form via email to using the Additional Vehicle Request Tracker Form. Please note the the Additional Vehicle Request Excel form has also been updated (V2), be sure to download the newest version (below).

Steps of the process:

  1. Complete the Excel AVR form. 
  2. Gather all required supporting documentation for request
  3. Complete the Additional Vehicle Request Tracker form
  4. If the request is for a non-EV/PHEV, complete the EV Selection & Purchasing Waiver Form immediately after submitting the AVR request.
  5. You can then check the status of your AVR request using the links below.
