ATTENTION: The MyGeotab Navigation Menu and User Interface will be updated for all State of Colorado Fleet users! This new menu may reorganize menu items and screens in ways that may be unfamiliar. We encourage you to use the “Search” bar at the top of the new navigation menu format.
Telematics devices collect information that is used in a variety of ways to improve the efficiency of a fleet. A common way to identify specific events is to create a rule in the system. For example, we have adopted a rule that identifies when a vehicle has been idling for more than 10 minutes, it is titled SFM-Idling > 10 Minutes.
When a rule is triggered, it is considered an Exception. There are a variety of Exception reports in Geotab that can be used to identify rules that have been triggered.
In our example above, the SFM-Idling Exceptions by Cabinet (Monthly) report is used to view idling times for each Cabinet every month and is useful to identify how many times the rule was triggered throughout the month and which vehicles triggered it. An example screenshot has been provided below.
All of the Exception reports in Geotab work the same way and the end-user can select the rule(s) to include in the results.
For even greater detail and guidance on rule creation and maintenance, as well as explanations for selected existing rules, please view the Rules in My Geotab guide.
