ATTENTION: The MyGeotab Navigation Menu and User Interface will be updated for all State of Colorado Fleet users! This new menu may reorganize menu items and screens in ways that may be unfamiliar. We encourage you to use the “Search” bar at the top of the new navigation menu format.

The SFM-Inactive Device Report (Daily), previously known as the Watchdog report, can be found in the Geotab database in both the Dashboard or the Report Views menu item.  The Dashboard view is set to update every 30 minutes.

This report lists telematics devices that have not communicated in 1, 2, or 3+ days as well as devices that are offline.  The information in this report will assist the end-user with identifying devices that have a potential communication issue and are not reporting the odometer reading correctly, if at all.

Once identified, the end-user or their Authorized Geotab Installer can refer to Geotab's Troubleshooting Steps to try and get the device to communicate.

Feel free to download the Geotab Device Diagnostic Flow Clocks for your technicians.

A few things to be aware of:

SUSPEND MODE: The cellular service remains active, but the device does not communicate.

SLEEP MODE: Occurs when a vehicle is turned off; the service and device remain active and the device will come out of Sleep Mode when the vehicle is started or when it is moved (such as when it is towed).

VEHICLES PARKED FOR EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME: The device will still communicate when a vehicle is parked for an extended amount of time.  When the ignition is off, the device “heartbeats” once every 30 minutes. After 48 hours of no movement, the device heartbeats once every 23 hours. This behavior is expected so the device is not drawing current from the battery of the vehicle while the ignition is turned OFF and could potentially cause a battery drain issue.
