ATTENTION: The MyGeotab Navigation Menu and User Interface will be updated for all State of Colorado Fleet users! This new menu may reorganize menu items and screens in ways that may be unfamiliar. We encourage you to use the “Search” bar at the top of the new navigation menu format.
GEOTAB REPORTING PRINCIPLES
MyGeotab Reports are the most detailed way to explore and organize the data that the telematics device is collecting on your fleet.
FAST is continually working to improve reports and to help Fleet Coordinators and other stakeholders better understand the reporting interface and what these reports have to offer.
It is important to note that reporting out of Geotab also has certain limitations. In some cases, these limitations can affect the quality of the report, so it is important to be aware of them.
One such limitation is that Geotab can only export 100,000 lines of data into an MS Excel Spreadsheet (.xlsx) report. Depending on the parameters used when running certain reports, this limitation will truncate the requested data. One way to get around this limitation is to constrain your reporting parameters (depending on the report type). This can be done using the following methods:
Reduce the period reported (e.g., from one year to one month)
Reduce the number of vehicles included in the report (e.g., select an individual agency or only EVs)
Turn on “Sub-Periods” within the report options to aggregate data over a day, week or month.
Please note that changing your reporting parameters can affect the functionality of certain reports. Be sure to check the “Information” tab on the report that you are running, as this tab often provides details on how changing reporting parameters might impact your report.
Other reporting limitations include an inability to automatically combine data from different types of report into a single unified report, and designing custom report templates including large image files (exceeding 5 mb)
If you are struggling to adapt your reporting to accommodate these limitations, you can submit a ticket requesting Geotab reporting support.
